The Best Shows Not Nominated for Emmys

Did you guys see the Emmys? I surely did and it was a blast. Neil Patrick Harris can host the hell out of anything. It wasn’t perfect, but it was surely entertaining. But my beef really doesn’t stem from the presentation itself, it comes from the fact that deserving shows, old and new, don’t get the chance to be nominated. Because having an Emmy greatly boosts show ratings. Winning makes it better for everyone connected to the show, the actors, writer, directors, and the whole crew. So I’ve come up with a list of deserving shows that didn’t make it to the Emmys. Expect it to be totally biased.

‘The Americans’

“Wow, great surprise from a writer who writes for a website called watchingtheamericans.com.” Yes, it’s biased, but ‘The Americans’ has been the best new show this year. It won a TCA award, its actors are top notch, unique, and very, very entertaining. It wasn’t totally snubbed, it got nominated for 2 awards but lost both. If next year they don’t get nominated, it will just be a sad day for TV, really.

‘Community’

Aside from great dramas, I’m a great fan of comedy too. I do watch ‘The Big Bang Theory’, ‘Louie’, and ‘Modern Family’ and they are very well made, but when it comes to pushing the envelope, ‘Community’ has gone out of its way to be different and unique. And that’s one problem why they don’t get so many viewers. They make episodes that not all people can relate to from ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ to ‘Multiple Timelines’. Sometimes I think they just make these episodes for themselves or for die hard fans who actually get what they’re doing but one thing is for sure, they are loved by the critics because they are very different and very funny.

‘Boardwalk Empire’

I don’t really get it why this show hasn’t been shown too much love from Emmy guys, especially this year. This show is great, full of action, drama, and excellent dialogue. I can’t count how many times my mouth was wide agape from the things that I saw from this show. This show may not be the best but it belongs to the top 5 or 3.

‘The Walking Dead’

Zombies are scary, but the Academy is more scared of nominating this show (aside from best make up.) Sure, zombies may be a cheap plot that attracts a lot of people, but who cares? Have people from the Academy seen the show? It’s more than zombies, it’s about survival, the importance of families, relationships, chainsaws, shotguns, and high powered rifles. C’mon Emmys, give this show a trophy!

‘Archer’

Another deserving show from FX, ‘Archer’ is hilarious. If you’re sick of ‘The Simpsons’, ‘Family Guy’, and ‘American Dad’, check ‘Archer’ out. First of all, the art is amazingly beautiful. The voice work is top notch provided by Jon H. Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter, Chris Parnell, Judy Greer, Amber Nash, Lucky Yates, Adam Reed, and George Coe. It’s like a combination of ‘Arrested Development’ and ‘Homeland’ but way better than the latter.
