Finally! Our beloved spy series has been given the official date for its season 2 premiere! Philip (Matthew Rhys), Elizabeth (Keri Russell), Stan (Noah Emmerich), and Nina (Annet Mahendru), will be back on February 26, 2014 at 10pm on the FX channel! Yes, it’s been a while since we really heard good news about the show, so consider it a late (if you’re a pessimist) or an early holiday gift to us the fans.
Although the season 2 premiere date is met with mostly excitement, it’s also approached with some anxiety as we still don’t really know if Margo will be back for just 1 episode. What we do know is that the show runners have said that they will focus on the Jenning kids as the last episode of the first season left us with Paige snooping around the enigmatic laundry room.
Another sure thing is that The Americans will be joined by a new actress. Aimee Carrero is a young artist that is best known for her role in Cartoon Network’s live action show Level Up. She also performs on an off-Broadway stage play titled “What Rhymes in America in 2012”. Ms. Carrero will have a recurring role on the series.
Anyway, if you haven’t seen this epic show then I really urge you to see it before the second season drops on February. Different websites and publications have put The Americans on their top ten lists including The American Film Institute and Time. TV.com had this to say about the critically acclaimed spy drama:
“The Americans found a home on many of our editors’ Top 10 Shows of 2013 lists and is widely considered to be one of the best new series of the year. The Americans stars Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell as Russian spies living in early-’80s America. Part spy thriller and part family drama, it comes with the TV.com stamp of approval.”
The February 26 premiere date will also give us enough time to re-watch all of the episodes of season 1. As of now, we have 57 days to prepare. I don’t know about you, but it’ll take me around a day or two to finish the first season. If you’re planning to do a marathon, invite your friends who are interested in the show. Don’t forget to include people who haven’t watched the first season. You can also do a drinking game based on the show.
Take one shot when: Elizabeth Jennings frowns, does the laundry, or makes food for her family.
Take one shot when: Stan Beeman stares blankly into something, or somewhere.
Take one shot when: Someone says something in Russian.
Take 2 shots when: Martha makes her “I love Clark” face.
Take 2 shots when: Philip shows love for America and every time he wears a crazy wig and a mustache.
Those are just examples and you can make your own rules for The Americans drinking game. Also, we don’t really promote drinking here, except if it’s vodka, paired with delectable caviar.
