Following Keri Russels’s career, she was first selected to join The Mickey Mouse Club in 1991 and debuted her film Honey, I blew up the kid, before finally landing maybe one of her most memorable TV roles Felicity as the title character .Felicity run for four years from its first season in 1998 to 2002. Felicity was a young woman who decides to follow her crush to New York City to attend the same college. Her profound portrayal of a naive college student finding her way in the big city landed her a Golden Globe Award. It’s a feeling that Keri Russell would always be remembered as the witty and strong girl turned to a woman, Felicity.
They say, what’s ahead is more important as what’s behind and Keri Russell is nailing her spy character in Fx’s The Americans. The TV show was created and produced by former CIA officer Joe Weisberg. It started first season on January 30, 2013 and has just completed its second season on May 21, 2014 and renewed for a third season.
Co-starring his rumored boyfriend Matthew Rhys, the two played Soviet spies posing as American married couple doing the dirty work for their motherland with their 2 unsuspecting kids.
The FX hit show stars Keri Russell as Elizabeth Jennings, a mother, “wife” and a Russian spy in America. She tells MTV about the appeal of the show, working in TV and contrasts this experience to working on Felicity.
She said, “With Felicity I was the main person. “That was a real grind. I think because Matt and J.J. Abrams had never produced a show before, and we were creating a really cinematic show for the olden days, we worked a lot of hours.”
“What I love about The Americans is the thirteen episodes, which means I can work really hard for four and a half months, and then be with my kids, or go do a movie, do a play,” she added.
“Just the quality of working on cable right now is just the best place to work,” she explained. “Especially being an actress, it’s tough right now in movies. There are a few, a handful, that I think are great movies. If you win the lottery and get to be the girl in that movie, you have maybe one good scene. You’re usually someone’s girlfriend, or a mom, worried. My show that I get to do is this really rich, in-depth character, and it’s fun. It’s weird, and all of these different things, not just the supporting girlfriend in one scene.”
Russell reunited with director Matt Reeves for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and starred alongside Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Andy Serkis, Nick Thurston, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Judy Greer.
