According to People.com Keri Russell and Matthew are actually dating:
“The two stepped out for date night on Thursday, stopping into New York’s The Public Theater, where they watched the Steven Soderbergh-directed play The Library. They sat together and theatergoers spotted Russell stroking Rhys’s hair and the two whispering before they left together.”
Last month, Rhys told People that his relationship with Russell is not true. The rumor got so out of hand that according to the actor, even his mom is asking whether it’s true or not.
“She calls up going, ‘What’s going on? I just read this about you,” the Welsh actor tells PEOPLE. “I tell her, ‘You have to take off your Google alerts.’ ”
“That is the best one I love,” Rhys told People, which he has had to deny to his mother. “I’ve told her a million times that there are a million inaccuracies that she’s read, [but she still] calls and goes, ‘Is this true?’ I tell her, ‘No! When are you going to get it?’ ”
“You have to brush that stuff off,” he adds. On top of the gossip, “The sex scenes don’t go down well in my house,” Rhys says of his family watching the hit FX series. “I’ve been told for the second season that I must warn them which episodes … they should expect to look the other way. They never get quite used to it.”
Although Rhys is strongly denying his relationship with Russell, lately they have been seen in public more and more in the last few months. The last time they were seen together was on March 27, 2014 when The Americans’ stars appeared to be on a date at The Public Theatre in New York City.
“They looked very close, like a couple on a date together,” an eyewitness revealed.
Mrs. Jennings looked very casual wearing jeans, a black leather jacket, matched with brown rugged boots. Mr. Jennings on the other hand looked laid back in his cuffed jeans, red plaid shirt, a black padded jacket, and sneakers.
‘It was very obvious they weren’t just there as two people who work together,’ the eyewitness continued. ‘They were whispering in each other’s ear and at one point Keri was stroking and playing with Matthew’s hair very affectionately.’
The source further added: ‘They were sitting next to each other in the theatre and she was stroking his head at one point:
‘It was clearly a date and they were being quite open about that. After the show they hung out in the lobby with some friends then left together.’
“They were walking super close together and laughing, even stopped to look at some furniture on the street,” another onlooker said of the pair at the time. “They looked very much like a couple.”
Around December last year, the pair was seen “looking affectionate”. One source says the couple was taking an intimate lunch at ABC Kitchen and was quoted “Seeing the way they are together I could have sworn they were a couple. They were so touchy-feely, drinking and laughing.”
